Land and Water Conservation Fund

The program provides matching grants to States and local governments for the acquisition and development of public outdoor recreation areas and facilities (as well as funding for shared federal land acquisition and conservation strategies).

Tax Credits

Federal Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credit

Provides tax benefits for historic preservation easements. Typically in the form of a deed, a voluntary legal agreement is formed that permanently protects a historic property; the easement allows the property owner to restrict development or changes, and then transfers these restrictions to a preservation or conservation organization.
