The mission of the Louisiana Housing Corporation (LHC) is to ensure that every Louisiana resident is granted an opportunity to obtain safe, affordable, energy efficient housing. This is done through various programs to assist in the financing of housing needs in the state of Louisiana for persons of low- and moderate-incomes. LHC specializes in forming partnerships with federal, state and local governmental units, banks, lending institutions and non-profit and for-profit developers to make housing affordable for Louisiana’s families. These partners utilize LHC’s financial and technical assistance programs to reach out to the individual homeowner or renter.
Low Income Energy Assistance Program
Designed to help low-income households pay their heating and cooling bills, as well as increase their energy self-sufficiency. Targets people with the lowest incomes and highest energy costs based on their income and family size. Additional targets are low-income households that include elderly, persons with disabilities, and young children.
Weatherization Assistance Program
Through this program funds are provided for weatherization project by low-income persons. The WAP funds are distributed to the WAP providers through a statewide WAP distribution formula.
Multifamily Bond Finance Program
The MBF Program aims to increase housing opportunities for low- to moderate-income families and individuals, through issuing Revenue Bonds to provide financing to developers to acquire, construct and/or rehabilitate affordable housing.
