Louisiana Economic Development

The mission of the Louisiana Economic Development (LED) is to cultivate jobs and economic opportunity for the people of Louisiana, through improving state and communities competitiveness, identify and cultivate top economic development assets in each region of our state, business retention and expansion, cultivate innovation, entrepreneurship, and small business, and develop robust workforce solutions, among others. LED manages a diversity of tax credits and incentives programs to accomplish this mission.



Economic Development Award Program (EDAP)

Assists publicly-owned infrastructure for industrial or business development projects that promote targeted-industry economic development and that requires state assistance for basic infrastructure development.

Job incentive program that provides Louisiana income and franchise tax credits to a business hiring at least 35% of net, new jobs from targeted group.

Tax Credits

Industrial Tax Exemption (ITE)

Provides a 100% property tax abatement for up to 10 years on a manufacturer’s new investment and annual capitalized additions. The exemption applies to all improvements to the land, buildings, machinery, equipment and any other property that is part of the manufacturing process.
