In 2009, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and Louisiana Office of Community Development – Disaster Recovery Unit funded the Community Resiliency Pilot Program (CRPP) for the development of 30 resilience projects around the state. These 30 resilience grants range from zoning ordinance updates to water management strategies, but central to all projects is the integration of resilience principles into community planning efforts.
As part of the CRPP, St. John the Baptist Parish is integrating resilience into a development management program as the fourth phase of its Comprehensive Plan. This new program will revise the existing zoning and subdivision ordinances to ensure they align with the comprehensive plan goals and policies.
Check back for more information on this project as the planning documents are finalized and made available.
