City of New Orleans Main Street Resiliency Plan

In 2009, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and Louisiana Office of Community Development – Disaster Recovery Unit funded the Community Resiliency Pilot Program (CRPP) for the development of 30 resilience projects around the state.  These 30 resilience grants range from zoning ordinance updates to water management strategies, but central to all projects is the integration of resilience principles into community planning efforts.

As part of the CRPP, the City of New Orleans is integrating resilience into a main street program to promote investment and redevelopment in locations along six historic commercial districts in the city, which will further help support economic recovery following disasters.

Check back for more information on this project as the planning documents are finalized and made available.
